Each year, RTO 3 facilitates bi-annual pan-regional industry exchanges to encourage networking and information sharing between tourism industry colleagues from across the region. This event includes an education/training component, networking time, regional tourism updates and communications focused on current industry initiatives aimed at increasing tourism spending.

2024/25 Sustainable Tourism Learning Series

This year, RTO3 is launching the 2024/25 Sustainable Tourism Learning Series, featuring in-person events and a new library of resources, online materials and training programs centered on sustainable tourism practices. Tapping into the expertise of our Destination Sustainability Officer, Hamid Dwyer, we will be presenting a convenient curriculum of online training, webinars, resources to support our industry in becoming more sustainable.

Our Bi-annual Industry Exchanges in Fall and Spring will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to come together, network, learn and share in their journey. This is your opportunity to learn how to implement sustainable tourism practices in your operations and become a leader in our region’s sustainability efforts.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sonya Graci

Dr. Sonya Graci is an Associate Professor at the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. With a distinguished career in sustainable tourism, Dr. Graci specializes in corporate social responsibility, Indigenous tourism development, island tourism, stakeholder engagement, and environmental management.

Her extensive research and practical experience have made her a sought-after speaker at conferences and events. Dr. Graci’s work focuses on creating sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the environment and local communities, ensuring a balanced approach to tourism development. She has worked with numerous communities, businesses and destinations on developing sustainability strategies in New Zealand, Honduras, China, Canada, Fiji and Indonesia.

In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Graci is known for her collaborative approach, working closely with various stakeholders to implement effective and sustainable tourism strategies. Her contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous awards and publications, solidifying her reputation as a leader in sustainable tourism.
